Building Connections: The Buddy Program at Auburn Primary
Jul 12, 2024
As part of our transition and leadership initiatives, our Year 4 students recently visited Cara Armstrong Kinder to begin their roles as buddies. Over the next term, they will visit other local Kindergartens, building their capacities as mentors and leaders, while creating connections with incoming Prep students who will be their buddies in 2025.
Fostering these connections is a big win for all students, particularly our newest members. When students feel connected to their peers and school community, they thrive both academically and socially. Our buddy program, which continues through Year 6 and Year 1, plays a significant role in this process. It not only provides support and friendship for younger students but also offers an excellent leadership-building opportunity for older students, emphasising the importance of role modelling and responsibility.
We are excited to welcome the Kinders to Auburn PS, where they will connect with Year 4s, explore the Prep spaces and the yard, and get to know our wonderful school. Through these interactions, we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that benefits all students, fostering a community where every student feels valued and connected.
