A Snapshot of Progress: NAPLAN and Attitudes to School Survey Highlights

Aug 22, 2024

NAPLAN data and the Department’s Attitudes to School Survey offer a snapshot of a school’s performance, providing a reference point of progress over time. While these metrics may not fully capture the individual learning journeys and daily well-being of all of our students, they do highlight key achievements at a school level. We are immensely proud of our students’ growth in both learning and well-being, the dedication of our Auburn team, and the strong partnership with our parents. The recent results from NAPLAN and the Attitudes to School Survey reflect much to celebrate in terms of achievement at this moment in time.

In NAPLAN, our students have demonstrated remarkable progress, particularly in Year 5. On average, 8% more of our Year 5 students achieved strong or exceeding results across all tests compared to similar schools. Reading saw 93% of students performing at strong or exceeding levels, with Numeracy reaching 90%. Writing and Grammar & Punctuation also showed impressive outcomes, with 90% and 93% of students, respectively, achieving strong results. These achievements reflect the efforts of our students, the dedication of our staff, and our focus on delivering a high-quality education.

Complementing these academic successes, the 2024 Attitudes to School Survey data reveals significant improvements in student engagement and well-being with continued improvements across the board for the third year running. “Stimulated Learning” has risen to 90%, and “Sense of Connectedness” has increased to 86%. Additionally, the “Student Voice and Agency” metric has seen substantial growth, reaching 85%. These improvements highlight our emphasis on high expectations, strong relationships, and meaningful student engagement, all underpinned by a commitment to amplifying student voices.

These results are promising, and we are committed to sustaining this momentum and fostering ongoing improvement to ensure that our students continue to excel both academically and personally.
